AMNESTY_VHLF“Write for Rights” Letter Writing Party!

On Saturday, December 9 at 9:30 a.m. we will gather at Westport Presbyterian Church to write personal letters urging the release of human rights defenders imprisoned around the world for speaking out peacefully against attacks on human rights. The letters will be sent to those in positions of power in countries where the abuses have taken place, urging them to free prisoners of conscience and allow them access to medical care, a lawyer of their choosing, and their families. A copy of each letter will be sent to the appropriate country’s ambassador to the United States.

Sample letters, paper, envelopes, stamps and pens will be provided. Amnesty International organizes this letter writing campaign for early December, and each year tens of thousands of letters are sent from all over the world, often resulting in the unconditional release of many human rights defenders. Please join us in this important action for justice and human rights. There will be refreshments to help keep us writing!

Sponsored by the Mission & Outreach Committee at Westport Presbyterian Church.

All are welcome!
